Over sixty years in the livestock business and serving youth in Texas and around the country is what Kevin and Jeff bring to the table with this partnership. Newsom – Ripley Show Goats has made a push over the last two years to assemble the very best doe base including lines from Jade, Halfmann, Walker, Prather, La Copa, Shrank and many other elite breeders. There are forty plus does in the donor pen for either IVF or flush breeding’s for the upcoming season. The buck battery assembled is second to none and in a couple of years names like UFC, Filthy Frank, Pocket Change, Ice Cube and Iced Tea will be well known names in the goat winner’s circle. Both families are known for their livestock evaluation skills and both Kevin & Jeff have judged major livestock shows across the country. At a recent sale the auctioneer referred to the two as the “old new guys in the Texas goat industry” and our families believe that is a plus for our operation as we are working hard and fast to become one of the top operations in the country.
Jeff and Tina reside in Franklin Texas and oversee a large portion of the breeding, IVF and kidding on the operation and it is no doubt that Jeff and Tina stay on top of their game in this aspect of the operation. They are often assisted by their daughter and son-in-law Lauren and Craig Todd, and son Colton who play a role in the operation as well. Jeff also serves as the Associate Director for County Operations of the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service.
Kevin and Carla are farther west and have does in Medina Texas as well as the Hyde Family ranch in Rocksprings. Their role in the operation is late kidding and all sales of offspring in the operation. Kevin and Carla oversee all online, live and private treaty sales and they are assisted daily by their daughter Cydney who plays a major role on the sales and advertising side of the Newsom – Ripley Show Goat operation. Kevin has been in school administration for the last fifteen years and is the current school superintendent at Medina ISD.
It has been our goal from the start to never get too big to answer customers question and help from the day of purchase right up to show day. With over sixty years of success in the major shows around Texas serving our customer base will always be a priority. Show wethers are our primary business but we also sell breeding stock, semen and breeding packages along with show lamb placement which has been part of our operation for thirty years. |
